Job Summary

In this role, your responsibilities will include conducting preliminary search requests for adult and pediatric patients by entering patient information into the NMDP website. You will request search strategy advice from NMDP and send preliminary search results to BMT physicians and nurse coordinators. Formalizing search requests involves reviewing preliminary search results and selecting donors for confirmatory typing as directed by BMT physicians and nurse coordinators. Additionally, you will complete work-up requests from BMT physicians and nurse coordinators by submitting collection requests to obtain donor collection dates for patients. Managing and updating all information related to requests submitted by BMT physicians and nurse coordinators will be key, including creating patient folders, updating spreadsheets, and ensuring all relevant parties are informed of any updates. This role requires proficiency in using the NMDP website for entering patient information and managing search requests, excellent communication skills for coordinating with BMT physicians, nurse coordinators, and NMDP, strong organizational skills for managing and updating patient information and requests, and attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all tasks.

Responsibilities*

Required Qualifications*

  • Minimum High School diploma, GED, or higher.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Proficiency on computers and able manage entering patient information for donor search requests.
  • Excellent communication skills for coordinating with BMT physicians, nurse coordinators, and NMDP.
  • Strong organizational skills for managing and updating patient information and requests.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all tasks.

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Additional Information

Part time 20 hours per week to be performed on site, two full days and one partial day. 

For example:

8 hrs. Monday, Tuesday

4 hrs. Wednesday 1pm to 5pm

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.

Job openings are posted for a minimum of seven calendar days. The review and selection process may begin as early as the eighth day after posting. This opening may be removed from posting boards and filled anytime after the minimum posting period has ended.
