Primary objective of position:
As a Building Controls Technician at nVent Management Company, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the flawless operation of our customers' buildings through the maintenance and repair of computer-based systems. Your primary objective will be to control and monitor the mechanical and electrical equipment, including HVAC systems, to create a world-class environment.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Monitoring and maintaining the Building Automation System, specifically the Niagara 4 system (Tridium).
- Troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical equipment.
- Finding ways to save energy.
- Collaborating with HVAC/R technicians to troubleshoot, install, and connect HVAC/R equipment to the Building Automation System.
- Working alongside Electricians to install equipment.
- Designing graphics and developing programs using the Niagara 4 system for the Building Automation System.
- Supporting the plant-wide communication system using two-way radios.
- Providing various support tasks for plant management, such as exporting data for reports.
Education & experience:
To excel in this position, it is preferred that you possess a High School diploma or G.E.D. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
Knowledge, skills & abilities (must haves):
To excel in this position, you must have:
- Programming experience in any language (e.g., Visual Basic, IFix, Sequel).
- Experience troubleshooting AC/DC electrical systems.
- The ability to read electrical diagrams or schematics.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and fixing equipment issues.
- Strong ability to effectively convey technical information.
- Initiative, self-starting abilities, and the capability to work with little to no supervision.
- The ability to plan, select, test, install, and maintain equipment.
- A passion for technically difficult tasks and the ability to find creative solutions to complex problems.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience in PLC and/or HMI programming/troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with programming, configuring, or troubleshooting Building Automation Systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or any other CAD software.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the tools and techniques used to maintain, diagnose problems, and repair HVAC/R and associated electrical systems.
- Proficiency in reading mechanical drawings.
- Mechanical proficiency and the ability to work with normal hand tools independently.
