The Store Strategy & Operations department leads the way to support all store activities and define business-driving strategies. The Workforce, Insights & Planning team owns labor optimization and reporting needs. The Operations & Innovation team owns merchandise execution, process improvement, compliance, store technology and innovation. And the Strategy team leads all the business-driving efforts for Salon, PetsHotel, Pet Training and In-store customer experience. These teams work diligently to ensure our associates, pets and pet parents are supported, while operating efficiently to drive the business.
About the Location
Hybrid Position:
This position may be considered Hybrid based on PetSmart’s FlexSmart policy and business needs. A Hybrid work arrangement is considered to be a blend of onsite and remote work activity. Associates with a Hybrid work arrangement have a work space at Phoenix Home Office and can be required to come onsite between 1-5 days a week as determined by leadership and based on business needs.
About the Job
The Category Manager - Salon Initiatives is responsible for growing revenue and optimizing costs in the Salon. Responsibilities include managing key Initiatives focused on driving disproportionate sales growth. This individual will be responsible for partnering with key cross-functional partners to plan & roll out salon projects with excellence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serves as subject matter expert for Salon. Responsible to steer and develop key initiatives focused on growing disproportionate sales growth.
- Foster innovation, helping to identify whitespace within the Services marketplace. Must have a keen eye on the competition, understanding competitive trends and bringing forth opportunities to win.
- Lead optimization of existing projects and actively pursue opportunities to adjust to create results & long-term road maps for each project.
- Key Partner to Services Ops Project Management to maximize Initiative’s results in the field- helping to support the creation of training, dashboards and more.
- Size new programs and initiatives in collaboration with Services Analytics team.
- Partner with key cross-functional partners to gather inputs to ensure effective results of key projects (Services Analytics, Operations, Learning & Development, etc.)
- Partner with Customer Experience/Merchants to create cross-category promotions and programs that deliver customer and sales targets (across Services and Merchandising).
- Helps monitor and optimize promotions.
- Monitor data and performance trends to identify and consistently improve business opportunities.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in retail, business, or related field preferred.
- 3-5 years’ experience in business strategy, project management or marketing.
SKILLS
- Executive presence and ability to influence up and across (including with Field Leadership & Service Leadership)
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Excellent business acumen, strategic thinker, inquisitive, data-driven, and apt for process improvement
- Highly collaborative across departments and field functions
- Passion and ability to interpret data which translates into actionable insights
- Must be able to devise creative solutions, produce measurable results, and clearly understand risks and drive contingency planning.
- Must be detail oriented & skilled in project management.
