The PF Manufacturing Technical Operations (MTO) Team supports the Parenteral Facility (PF) Manufacturing Department. We are a multicultural group of specialists who serve the PF as process experts by managing the documentation and compliance needs of the Manufacturing team, introducing new products to the facility, and as project managers for continuous improvement projects.
As a co-op working in this department, you will have the opportunity to see how Biotech Manufacturing processes are designed and implemented through instructions, documentation, and training.
Depending on your interests, there is a portfolio of projects available to undertake during this internship.
Example projects may include:
- Lead a continuous improvement project to update the Buffer Preparation process to increase the size of batches that can be compounded.
- Lead an equipment-focused task force to improve reliability for a unit operation in Filling or Automated Visual Inspection - create dashboards, tools, or metrics to track operational effectiveness.
- Modernizing the technical instructional content in E-learnings and On-the-Job Training checklists to improve the quality and speed of new employee training in Manufacturing.
During your time in the MTO, you will:
- Learn the essentials of Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Documentation Practices.
- Interface with various stakeholders in the Manufacturing process: Quality Assurance, Engineering, Automation, Manufacturing Sciences, and Quality Control.
- Revise and route GMP Documentation to complete project deliverables.
- Facilitate meetings with project partners to drive results.
Qualifications
- Ability to absorb and communicate technical information
- Ability to work independently once direction is given
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, technical writing skills preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to assess workload and generate a plan to tackle the work assigned
- Prior experience leading projects is a plus
- Experience with creating dashboards in Excel, PowerBI, or Tableau or statistical analysis/coding is a plus
- Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office / SharePoint is a plus
- Ability to hit deadlines and understand processes from start to finish
- Great communication skills

- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
- At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date
- Be currently enrolled in an accredited community college, college or university
Education
Rising Sophomore or above & enrolled in an Engineering or Scientific Undergraduate or Master's degree program:
- Chemical Engineering
- Biotechnology
- Industrial
- Mechanical
- Electrical
- Biomedical
- Other science disciplines will be considered
Location
- This role is on-site in Research Triangle Park, NC
