The Town of Wellesley is currently seeking a Deputy Director of Veterans Services. Reporting to the Veterans Services Director, the Deputy Director is accountable for the administration and delivery of veterans’ services for the West Suburban Veterans’ District (comprised of Needham, Wayland, Wellesley, Weston, and Westwood) within the statutory requirements of Massachusetts General Law. This position works independently within the Massachusetts General Laws, federal laws, and Veterans Administration policies and procedures. Duties include administering provisions of and providing case management to recipients MGL CH 115, assisting veterans and their dependents with information on and paperwork processing for available benefits and services, assisting with outreach programs and the coordination of observances of Memorial Day and Veterans’ Day in District communities.
Minimum requirements include a bachelor’s degree and one to three years of experience in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience in veterans’ services, human relations, social service fields of business. The incumbent must be a veteran in accordance with Massachusetts State law and must complete the DVS certification process within one (1) year of their initial appointment and every three (3) years thereafter, in accordance with MGL CH 115, Section 3B(b). Familiarity with state and federal laws and regulations governing the provision of Veterans services, a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle to perform all essential duties are also required.
Pay range is $51,096 - $77,447 annually and includes a $3,000 transportation stipend.
