Overview
The Director of Operations/Site Lead will lead manufacturing operations for our Repligen Waltham. They are responsible for managing resources, developing, and implementing an operational plan and ensuring that procedures are carried out properly. The Director of Operations regularly evaluates organizational efficiency and makes necessary changes to maximize staff productivity. The objective of this role is to create transformative, comprehensive, and self-sustaining operational excellence capabilities across the site, working in close collaboration with each of the functional leaders. Additionally, they will be responsible for identifying, prioritizing, and implementing initiatives to drive safety, productivity, quality, customer service and/or reducing costs and complexity.
Responsibilities
· Manage the day-to-day operations of each site
· Determine the strategic direction of the sites, set the plan for products, processes, and facility relationships with the goal of increasing efficiency and profitability
· Direct functional oversight including operations management, purchasing, planning, MFG, MFG Engineering, facilities management, and inventory controls to ensure smooth execution of daily operations and projects
- Provide leadership, communication, and coaching to employees
- Cultivate a safe environment of trust, teamwork, and accountability
- Sustain a culture of continuous improvement through the Repligen Performance System
- Accountable for financial performance of product operations
- Implements cost savings to achieve continuously declining product standard cost.
- Assess talent needs and build the team through people development and recruitment.
- Respond to onsite emergency calls as needed
- Implement Repligen’s Quality Management System per ISO, and other regulatory agencies.
- Exhibit professional behavior with both internal/external business associates
- Ensure compliance to applicable business policies, laws, and regulations
- Perform other duties & projects as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science or a related field preferred, plus10+years' experience in manufacturing including 2 years in biotechnology or life sciences
- Demonstrated experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment is required
- Demonstrated experience of direct supervisory and/or managerial experience is required
- Previous successful site leadership experience is preferred
- Previous experience in cGMP / regulated manufacturing environments is preferred
- Understanding of key financial and operational drivers
- Proficiency in problem solving and cost reduction
- Ability to concisely communicate status, needs, forecasts, risks, and timelines
- Knowledge and experience deploying lean manufacturing principles
- Exceptional leadership capabilities
- Understand complex manufacturing environments and working in a matrix structure
- Experience leading multiple complex projects
- Track record of developing high performing teams
