The Director, US Congress Strategy is visionary leader, playing a pivotal role in ensuring exceptional scientific presence at major US neurology, immunology and payer congresses. This dynamic position requires the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and ever-evolving environment, where complex problem-solving skills are essential. This collaborative role fosters teamwork and synergy across functions, connecting and aligning closely with all US Medical Affairs & Evidence Generation (USMAEG) functions, US Commercial, the MA&EG Congress Strategy Team, and US Field Medical to craft a comprehensive congress strategy. The Director, US Congress Strategy will be responsible for leading the USMAEG community responsible for strategic planning and execution of industry sponsored scientific symposia funded by argenx, as well as congress activities including medical booth design and content, educational interactives, company sponsored receptions, and congress related omni-channel opportunities. This position will report to VP, Head of Integrated Medical Capabilities.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Lead and co-create an innovative, creative strategy for US congresses in conjunction with both cross-functional teams for key therapy areas, including inline and pipeline products
Lead the US Congress Strategy Community providing direction and guidance for Congress Strategy community members responsible for tactical execution of medical affairs congress strategy
Partner with internal and external stakeholders to develop and execute industry sponsored symposia and other novel educational programs for autoimmune diseases
Coordinate planning and execution of all congress related tactics with cross-functional team including Medical Director Office, Field Medical, Medical Information, Commercial, Scientific Communications, Research and Clinical Development to ensure a comprehensive and impactful presence at major congresses in therapeutic areas of argenx interest
Work seamlessly with Congress Strategy Team (MA&EG) to support activities and requests for sponsorships at congresses of global significance in the US to ensure argenx is represented across inline and pipeline products and across regions
Responsible for informing internal stakeholders across the organization on Medical Affairs activities at all major congresses
Liaise with Medical Affairs functions to support the review and management of all requests for sponsorships at major medical conferences, and ensuring alignment of sponsorship level with strategic priorities
Build connectivity and synergies between other functional capabilities within the larger Integrated Medical Capabilities community (Digital Strategy, Medical Education, Medical Review etc)
Partner with Head of Medical Affairs, Head of Integrated Medical Capabilities, Medical Affairs Operations, Finance, and all cross functional stakeholders to develop annual budget to support medical affairs congress sponsorships, symposia, and other activities

Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a collaborative and team-oriented structure
Leading the planning and execution of scientific symposia
Ability to immerse in the science and identify critical areas for education
Experience in leveraging agency partners to delivery high quality content and program for congresses
Prior experience in effectively navigating MLR review within a biopharma organization
Detailed understanding of industry regulations and practices relating to Medical Affairs
Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills; ability to present strategic plans to senior management
Education and Qualifications:
PharmD, PhD, or MD in related Life Sciences discipline. Equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience may be considered
10+ years biopharmaceutical industry experience leading the development and execution of industry sponsored symposia and scientific presentations
Scientific content development experience in neurology, immunology or rare disease across a variety of platforms, channels and venues (e.g. symposia, videos, webinars, infographics, posters, oral presentations)
Successful record of creating and managing complex project plans, timelines, budgets and critical paths
Ability to travel 25% domestically and internationally
