The role:

Do you have your electrical license? Do you have experience maintaining, testing and repairing electronic equipment? If so, then this might be the job for you! Join our team as an ITS support technician in La Grande! In this role, you will be responsible for repairing and maintaining a large inventory of varied technologies deployed along the roadside that support ODOT’s intelligent transportation system. You will also work directly with traffic and design engineers in solving problems found in the design and support construction efforts. Apply today!

A day in the life:

  • Troubleshoot and repair a variety of technical equipment and systems including traffic signaling and warning systems, variable message signs, weather data collection systems and video systems.

  • Respond to system outages and perform or coordinate repairs to restore services.

  • Perform remote diagnostic testing to troubleshoot.

  • Work with engineering team to resolve technical problems and performance.

  • Verify that project construction is acceptable and that the components function properly.

  • Research and review new products and technology.

  • Represent work unit by planning, coordinating and issue resolution processes with internal and external customers.

  • Work outdoors more than 50% of the time in all weather conditions and travel to work locations throughout the state with occasional night stays required.

  • Work is performed in enclosed spaces with exposed voltage potentials of 120 volts AC or greater to ground and at heights of 3 meters or more above ground and water.

Minimum qualifications:

Five years of experience maintaining, testing and repairing electronic equipment. Four of the five years must have been maintaining and repairing electronic control systems, programmable logic controllers, supervisory control and data acquisition systems, or electronic data collection and management equipment;

OR

An associate’s degree in electronics technology, electronics engineering, mechatronics, automation, robotics, or similar technical programs from an accredited college; AND three and a half years’ experience maintaining, testing and repairing electronic control systems, programmable logic controllers, supervisory control and data acquisition systems, or electronic data collection and management equipment.

Special qualifications:

  • Required License: Licensed applicants must possess and attach a copy of at least one of the following Oregon approved electrical licenses at the time of recruitment: Limited Maintenance Electrician, Limited Manufacturing Plant Journeyman or General Journeyman Electrician. Unlicensed applicants must obtain an Oregon approved electrical license within six months of hire.

  • Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.

  • Related electrical experience that could be applied to an electrical license.

  • Demonstrated technical understanding of electronics.

  • Experience using computer software to document systems, assets, work management and troubleshoot.

  • Understanding of troubleshooting equipment or electronic devices.
