Job Description:
IT Field Technician- 5 days/week onsite in Winston-Salem, NC - W2 Only
*Candidates must be able to work on the clients W2 without a vendor or employer*
*Candidates must have a current drivers license, reliable transportation and be able to be onsite in Winston-Salem, NC from day 1*
Apex Systems is seeking an ONSITE IT Field Technician to support multiple client locations in the Triad area.
This assignment is anticipated to be a 12-month contract with strong potential for extension; however, Apex Systems cannot guarantee the length of this assignment.
Responsibilities:
- Execute the migration of systems from Windows 10 to Windows 11 at multiple sites.
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows 11 software and related hardware.
- Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics for issues related to the Windows 11 migration, including connectivity, performance, and user access problems.
- Collaborate with IT support teams to resolve technical issues and ensure a smooth migration process.
- Provide on-site technical support and training to client staff regarding Windows 11 features and functionalities.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure optimal system performance post-migration.
- Document migration activities, issues encountered, and resolutions in a clear and organized manner.
- Respond to service requests and incidents related to the migration in a timely manner, prioritizing tasks based on urgency and impact.
- Conduct inventory of existing site equipment and deploy new equipment as needed, including workstations, printers, e-signature pads, bar code scanners, and other end-user devices.
- Troubleshoot and support internal, business, and IT staff on an ad-hoc basis.
- Resolve tickets independently within a fast-paced environment.
- Potentially transport IT equipment using personal vehicle to offsite locations (small peripheral devices to be deployed in offsite locations).
Experience:
- Associate's degree in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 4 years of IT Desktop support or Field Technician experience, specifically in infrastructure deployment.
- Experience with assisting field technicians with device deployment.
- Strong experience with infrastructure assessments.
- Experience with PC setup or relocation, PC refreshes, or deploying new IT equipment.
- Knowledge of Windows 7/8/10/11 operating systems and standard networking protocols (including TCP/IP and Ethernet).
- Knowledge of Thin Clients and associated environments.
- Prior Epic/EMR experience is a bonus.
Requirements:
- Proven experience with Windows 10 to Windows 11 migration and related technologies.
- Strong knowledge of networking, hardware diagnostics, and software troubleshooting.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel between multiple locations.
- Ability to stand, walk, and maneuver within the client's environments for extended periods.
- Capable of lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent bending, crouching, and reaching to access and install hardware.
- Ability to navigate stairs and confined spaces as needed.
- Must be flexible to work overtime hours as needed throughout projects.
- CompTIA A+ or equivalent certification is preferred.
