Wells Fargo is seeking a Middle Market Business Development Officer (Lead Commercial Banking Business Development Representative) in Upstate New York covering the Western, Central, and Capital regions of New York State to increase momentum and drive growth with a focused effort exclusively on sourcing new relationships. In this role, you will:
- Prospect companies with annual gross sales between $25MM - $2BN and remain engaged until prospects are successfully converted to customers
- Target establishing complete C&I and Investor Real Estate relationships that are comprised of commercial lending, treasury management, deposit and other credit solutions
- Partner with Commercial Relationship Managers to cross sell appropriate products and services, prioritize prospects, develop pursuit strategy, create proposals, manage new customer acquisitions, and onboarding process for customers
- Increase Wells Fargo's and the Commercial Bank's relevance to prospective customers and product partners for new business opportunities through consistent marketing efforts and delivery of value added ideas
- Participate in initiatives and deliverables within Commercial Banking Business Development functional area
- Meet business objectives while leveraging solid understanding of functional area operations, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements with an emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation
- Collaborate and consult with Commercial Banking Business Development peers, colleagues, and middle level managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of Commercial Banking Business Development experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
- Proven track record and experience in direct sourcing and prospecting new clients
- Commercial or Middle Market account relationship management experience
- Established network in the Upstate and Central NY footprint
- Existing local in-market network to fuel business development
- Experience developing partnerships and collaborating with other business and functional areas
- Treasury Management product knowledge
- Experience building relationships with community organizations and key community influencers
- Proven ability to develop and execute a sales strategy
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Effective organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
- Proficient with MS Technology Platforms (i.e., Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, etc.)
- Credit acumen demonstrated through education
- Risk management experience to include understanding of the responsibility to protect sensitive information
- Participation in an industry group or organization that aligns with Wells Fargo's support of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
- Bachelor’s degree preferred

- Ability to travel in the market 50% of the time
