Summary
This role involves leading the design of our artificial intelligence and value-added services products in collaboration with PM and engineering partners. We seek to hire a seasoned, organized, and creative individual contributor who will help drive the AI strategy across the innovation center, ensure user value is created, build relationships with product teams across the company, and deliver our next-gen AI experiences. The AI and services squad has two main charters. 1) delivering valuable AI-powered experiences (such as advanced video search) along with defining how AI will be used across our product suite and 2) Determining and delivering the premium features and services that will be a part of our Vivint Premium service tier. The AI and Services squad is one of many that is nested under a larger team called the Protect Vertical. A vertical at Vivint is a larger product team that has a defined charter and the resources to deliver products quickly and independently. The Protect vertical is responsible for preventing bad things from happening in customers’ homes, protecting homes and families, and keeping people aware of what’s happening in and around the home in delightful and engaging ways.
Top responsibilities
Partners with Protect Vertical leadership to influence product strategy. --- A successful UX Lead Represents the voice of the customer within Vivint’s Protect team as the AI and Services squad does research, defines, develops, and maintains products and experiences that keep people safe and aware of what’s happening in and around their homes. They will partner with product, technical, and program leadership to bring these experiences to life.
Participates in and drives Discovery for current and future products. --- A successful UX Lead will ensure value is clearly identified as the team explores solutions within the Smart Home space. They will also advocate for that consumer value throughout the entire development process. The UX Lead will have several areas of support throughout the discovery process, but it is expected that they lead out and set the culture for an always-learning mindset.
Identifies problems, ideates on solutions, and delivers world-class end-to-end experience designs. A successful Lead UX designer does not just grind out UI. The Lead UX designer is passionately invested in solving the right problems in the most valuable way. The Lead designer delivers experience designs that provide user value, and business value, and are technically feasible.
Helps up-level design within the vertical. -- A successful UX Lead will be an advocate for user experience in all venues, including among the development team and stakeholders. This person knows the value that design brings and can articulate that value to others.
Additional responsibilities include...
- Leading UX on multiple projects
- Ensuring our services strategy and AI initiatives across our product suite come together to create a unified and valuable consumer experience
- Mentoring other UX designers within the Protect team. Helping those on your team to elevate their design skills and progress their careers within the company
- Owning and ensuring consumer value across the complete development process
- Coordinating with UX Leads from other teams to provide and receive feedback, ensure consistency, and promote a resilient design culture
- Designing for accessibility needs.
- Surfacing issues proactively that could impact timelines or user experience.
- Design compelling experiences that will excite everyone who comes in contact with them.
- Creating robust handoff documentation for engineering via our standardized handoff process
- Working with engineers during and after the development of your products to ensure that the design intent is achieved.
- Presenting to leadership in Business Reviews
- Testing developed experiences in your own home...reporting bugs and giving feedback.
Previous experience/qualifications
- Proven, successful development of digital and physical products on the market.
- Proven ability to partner with Product and Engineering leaders & peers to deliver great experiences.
- Extensive experience in discovery and research.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
