The NP/PA is responsible for the assessment, participation in the development of the plan of care, diagnosis and intervention of the assigned hospitalized patient(s) according to approved protocols. The NP/PA prescribes a variety of modalities to meet patient needs, up to and including continued hospital admission, transfers or discharge and prescriptive authority. Collaborates with the assigned team members to support and adjust plan of care and length of stay for patient care needs. This Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will work closely with patients admitted to the hospitalist service along with patients in the step down ICU and PICU.
The Hospitalist Team consists of about 8 Physicians and 3 Advance Practice Providers who work collaboratively to admit and manage pediatric patients with a wide range of diagnoses. Responsibilities include admitting patients from the emergency department and direct transfers, obtaining a thorough history, formulating a treatment plan, interpreting diagnostic tests, and addressing any concerns from the patients, families, and bedside health providers. We have a 90 day onboarding process for our new graduate advance practice providers with support as they transition into their role.
