Job Summary
Department of Pediatric Surgery is looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and service-oriented individual to be a part of our front desk team. The individual in this role is expected to assist patients visiting our clinic and balance other daily responsibilities in a team-based setting. They will be providing support to the physicians by scheduling new, return and postoperative visits for patients, including detailed multiple appointments in the Pediatric Surgery Clinic, located in C.S. Mott Children's Hospital.

Responsibilities*
- Provide excellent service to patients, providers and other internal stakeholders
- Schedule patient appointments
- Check-in and check-out patients
- Verify patient demographic and other information is current
- Collect payments from patients
- Complete multiple tasks independently
- Assist with other operational tasks as necessary
- Interact with all department providers and staff respectfully and appropriately
- Problem solve independently and as a part of your team
- Perform other duties as needed.
Required Qualifications*
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 0 -2 years of experience.
- Must be able to work in a team setting and have excellent communication skills with adults and children.
- Experience in a patient care setting.
- Excellent attendance records.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Must demonstrate excellent customer services skills.
- Ability to exhibit a professional and positive image when interacting with patients, faculty and staff.
- Strong written, verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
- Must have strong organizational and time management skills as well as attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a very busy, complex clinical setting.
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to work well with clinicians and fellow staff.
- Ability to problem-solve independently when challenges arise.
Desired Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience and education
- Previous experience working in an ambulatory care setting
- Knowledge of Epic/MiChart
- Knowledge of UMHS/University of Michigan policies and procedures
- Knowledge of medical records and medical terminology
