The Portfolio Software Lead will be the overall Software Engineering Lead (SWEL) of a portfolio of programs that are currently in the early stages of development. The Portfolio Software Lead will lead the definition and development of electronic warfare processing software across all portfolio family programs in the product line, including on-board and off-board (mission support) software. The Portfolio Software Lead provides management and technical oversight of mission requirement decomposition, software design, software test, and software sustainment across all active programs. The Portfolio Software Lead maintains a portfolio roadmap documenting the future vision for electronic warfare software and the tools, techniques, and practices required to bring the vision to fruition, to include support of DevSecOps, and Big Iron. The portfolio software lead will collaborate with other programs and IRADs that are developing software that can be leverage into the program portfolio. The Portfolio Software Lead will ensure efficiencies are gained by the use of common software across the programs within the portfolio to the maximum extent. The Portfolio Software Lead will direct the development of software to maximize the ability to efficiently leverage the software within their portfolio to other programs across the business area. The Portfolio Software Lead will be responsible for estimating software costs for electronic warfare system development, updates, and sustainment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong cross-platform EW mission understanding and experience in leading teams developing both embedded software and mission support software. The candidate must have the ability to communicate across engineering disciplines to align software development with firmware and hardware development. The candidate must have a systems engineering mindset to be able to evaluate architecture and design options that may include allocating functionality across numerous subsystems. The candidate must be able to prepare and present software architectural information to military acquisition and operations staff. The candidate must be able to prepare and present software proposals to engineering management.

Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely.



Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or similar.
  • Twelve years of work experience in the Electronic Warfare domain
  • Familiar with Big Iron capability.
  • System / Software engineering mindset and experience leading and managing complex software development efforts.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing complex Electronic Warfare system.
  • Excellent collaboration skills working across systems, software, hardware and firmware engineering disciplines and with customers and program management.
  • Engineering background and leadership skills with experience in multiple aspects of the product development lifecycle
  • Ability to lead a medium to large group with diverse cultures and individual differences.
  • Proven performance management, mentoring, coaching, and communication skills
  • Ability to formulate a strategic vision and define and implement action plans to achieve goals in a changing environment.
  • Experience developing/reviewing technical and cost artifacts for new business activities.

  • Experience managing projects utilizing Earned Value Measurement System (EVMS) in a DoD environment
  • Expert level understanding of JIRA, Bitbucket, git


Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $143000 - $243100

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
