Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed full-time on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time.

BAE's C4ISR Systems business area has an exciting opportunity for a Program Director II to lead a portfolio of programs and program managers in the development and delivery of world-class secure communications capabilities. Reporting to the Space Systems product line director, this role will be based out of Hudson, NH. The Space Systems product line is experiencing significant growth as they expand their positions in the market. The charter for the Secure Enterprise Communications product area is to:

  • Lead efforts to defend and grow current market position by leveraging our industry-leading free-space optical communications technology and products.
  • Collaborate across the Electronic Systems sector to create, capture, and execute emerging opportunities in Multi-Domain Operations by applying sector-wide payload strengths, mission engineering, and strategic partnering to expand our footprint in the broader LaserComm market.


The primary responsibilities of this role include:

  1. Program P&L responsibility for a diverse portfolio, including multiple contracts, customers, and products/services/suppliers in different geographical locations.
  2. Accountable for all aspects of assigned programs execution (cost, schedule, technical performance, quality, inventory management, and customer engagement) and ensuring program commitments are met, having the authority to make cogent and timely decisions related to the projects.
  3. Accountable for acquiring and developing talent to support successful business performance and career development of employees.
  4. Responsible for Strategic Planning, development of an Integrated Business Plan, executing the Operating Plan and establishing business development and technical roadmaps for the products within the program area.
  5. Plans and effectively utilizes new business funding within the program area to capture new business and achieve technical and competitive advantages in the marketplace.
  6. Leads by example and fosters an environment of teamwork based on a fundamental respect for each person's or organization's contribution to the team, open communication among team members, and a willingness to place the success of the team above personal self-interest.
  7. Directs the work activities of subordinate employees assigned and is responsible for selecting, counseling, training, developing and evaluating the performance of these subordinates.
  8. Ensures the adherence and compliance of assigned programs to BAE Systems Operational Framework and the Operational Assurance Statement.
  9. Excellent communication skills, including oral presentations and written correspondence.
  10. Exhibits sound judgment, fact-based decision making and effective negotiation up and down the chain of command with both internal leadership and external customers/partners.
  11. Exhibits sound interpersonal skills while interfacing with company personnel, suppliers and customers.
  12. Executes the business in a responsible and safe, secure, and ethical manner while complying with company policies and applicable state, federal and foreign laws
  13. Agile and adaptable to the changing nature of business priorities and program goals.
  14. Improve our work environment by promoting teamwork, wellness, workplace flexibility, actively embracing diversity, modeling inclusive behaviors, and increasing leadership engagement.
  15. Cultivate strong customer relationships at various levels with the US government and prime contractors and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction. Represent our company at senior executive levels across industry and government customers.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelors' degree in a technical field; or in Business or Management or equivalent experience
  • 15 years of demonstrated experience leading and inspiring diverse teams in a high tempo environment
  • Top Secret security clearance
  • Proven success identifying growth areas and developing new business strategic plans aligned with the company's growth objectives. Experience leading large and complex, competitive captures.
  • Successful, proven past performance in leading and managing cross-functional project teams
  • Proven track record and expertise in project management
  • Very strong presentation and organizational skills
  • Highly adaptable with a high degree of initiative
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in new business capture for the Space and air domains
  • Experience in the development and production of high reliability spacecraft or airborne electronics
  • Knowledge of Government contracting, current acquisition trends and customer / competitor behaviors is a positive.


Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Prefer Program Management Institute (PMI) certification and/or Program Management Professional (PMP)
  • Master's in business administration and/or Engineering
  • Experience in business case development, analysis, and presentation
  • Detailed knowledge of the defense aerospace market


Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $164000 - $278800

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
