The Occupational Health and Risk Management Unit is critical in ensuring the health and safety of employees and the public. The team works to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses, ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, and design safety programs to prevent accidents. The internship provides hands-on experience in risk management and environmental health in a public-sector setting.The Risk internship is 12-weeks, beginning in June and ending mid-August.

Position Description
The Risk Management Intern will assist with risk management activities, such as hazard assessment, incident investigation, claim management, and risk assessment in various MAC departments, thereby gaining a more comprehensive understanding of airport operations and associated risk. With guidance from Risk Management staff, the intern's primary duty will be to assist with:
- Incident review
- Claims assessment
- Data analysis regarding losses of various types
- Workplace inspections and evaluations
- Safety training, testing and record keeping
- Updating existing chemical inventories across the organization

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS- Currently enrolled in or graduated within 12 months from a graduate or undergraduate degree program in risk management, business, environmental health, safety, industrial hygiene or related program.
- Completion of at least one or more high-school or higher chemistry courses.
- Ability to lift, position, and carry at least 25 lbs.
- Basic proficiency with e-mail, web browsers, Microsoft office software.
- Ability to work outdoors under varying weather conditions.
- Reliable transportation to commute between job sites.
