The Sanitation Technician is required to work in an environment that is wet, very humid and undergoes extreme temperature changes, from very hot to very cold. Due to the changing environment, a worker must constantly be aware of the effects of these changes. The sanitation worker will also be working around large processing equipment in which chemicals will be used to complete the sanitation process. The sanitation worker must be able to work as a team along with other members of the crew, under stressful conditions and be flexible and willing to perform varying tasks per the supervisor's instructions and in accordance with all safety guidelines mandated by the employer.
Location: Hicksville, NY
Hours: M-Th -11:00 pm to 7:30 am, Sat - 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Shift schedules could include days, nights, weekends, some holidays, hours subject to business needs.
Wage: $26.22
Required Qualifications & Experiences:
18 years or older
Basic Computer Skills
Ability to read, write, comprehend, follow verbal and written instructions and possess basic mathematical skills.
Ability to work with Corrosive Chemicals.
Preferred Qualifications & Experiences:
6+ months of industrial manufacturing experience
High School Diploma, GED or associate degree
Ability to use enterprise software as well as custom sanitation programs
Experience communicating work order progress to supervisor and production operators
Ability to be flexible in work performed and schedule
Able to trouble shoot mechanical problems
Understand operating principles of food processing equipment
Physical Requirements for production positions regularly include:
Frequent movement including walking, standing, bending/stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms, lifting, climbing and other active movements.
Lifting up to 50 pounds.
Able to work in noisy environments.
Performing duties while wearing personal protective equipment
Working across temperature zones that may include cold and/or hot environments for extended periods and may include work in environments where dust is present.
