National Grid is hiring a Senior Engineer, Gas Asset Management and Engineering, to support the identification and analysis of our Future of Heat projects in our Massachusetts Service Territory located out of Waltham, Massachusetts. This is a Hybrid Role requiring to be in office 2-3 days a week.

Job Purpose

The Senior Engineer supporting Future of Heat will focus on developing evaluation and selection criteria and collaborating with other Engineers to integrate into our risk-based asset management practices.

Key Accountabilities

  • With current gas engineering experience, you'll work with current gas and electric process owners to identify process enhancements to evaluate decarbonization technologies. You'll work directly with our internal cross functional teams and external stakeholders to deliver our fossil free network vision. You'll work closely with gas and electric engineers, customer facing groups, regulatory analysts, construction and project managers, and procurement analysts, among others.
  • We're expanding our engineering team that will continue to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to successfully review project opportunities, expand established asset managementpractices to integrate decarbonization technologies and prepare engineering studies to determine the capability of delivering a fossil free solution.

Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required

  • Able to operate within or supervise a project team or virtual team to achieve business objectives, plans and targets to enhance performance, condition, records and compliance with statutory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, as a minimum requirement.
  • 4 or more years of experience in an engineering or technical role required.
  • previous successful experience working in cross functional teams.
  • experience or training with decarbonization technologies such as geothermal heating systems, renewable natural gas projects or hydrogen engineering projects.
  • previous gas planning experience utilizing Synergi gas network software.
  • previous experience developing long and short term investment plans using risk-based gas asset management principles.
  • the ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects under budget and time constraints. Bottom-line oriented, budget conscious, metric/measurement driven
  • strong computer skills, communication skills and written skills required.
  • a valid Driver's License.

Salary

$116,00 - $136,000 a year

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
