Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Senior Principal Electronics Engineer - Field Operations to join our team at Palmdale, CA. This position will be in our Avionics Integration Organization.
The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility. There is no remote / hybrid / telework available for this position. This position may be asked to support nights or weekends depending on needs of the user community. This position requires the ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
This candidate will be responsible for the integrating and testing software/hardware systems in complex IT systems.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Perform datacenter hardware/software installation, configuration, and testing for both new systems and upgrades to existing complex IT systems
• Physically construct rack-based datacenter systems with a focus on safety, quality, and ease of repair
• Install system interconnect cabling for communications, audio, networking, and serial interfaces
• Interpret, markup/redline, and audit released engineering drawings
• Perform software integration of multiple software components into a single system on the host environment. Components include but are not limited to: Windows, Solaris, VMware, ESXI, network configurations, and internally developed executable software.
• Perform integration and troubleshooting of software components across multiple networks interfacing with customer Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)
• Maintain system hardware/software configuration and ensure that through documentation is created and maintained to allow others to integrate & troubleshoot in the future
• Execute both temporary and permanent changes to the system via established processes
• Provide expert software, hardware, and system support to on-site end-users.
• Support the engineering team(s) with software defect resolution and enhancement efforts
• Perform integrated logistics support (ILS) and inventory tracking for inbound and outbound hardware.
• Participate in offsite upgrades and system integration activities
The selected candidate will be working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment working closely with engineers, technicians, and other on-site personnel. The candidate will be supporting a program where application of extensive technical expertise will be required to support a complex IT system.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related engineering experience.
• Demonstrated experience with Windows and Unix operating systems
• Demonstrated experience with VmWare
• Ability to obtain and maintain Security+ Certificate for administrators. This certificate must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
• Active in-Scope, DoD Top Secret clearance.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP/PAR). This SAP/PAR must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Current Special Program Access
• Security+ certificate for administrators
• Mission Planning experience
• Previous experience with existing system
• Familiarity with storage systems and basic networking
• Familiarity with Solaris 10 and 11, Oracle OEM
• Familiarity Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Windows, Active Directory
• Familiarity VMware ESXi, VMware vCenter, and high-availability virtualized infrastructures
Salary Range: $133,000 - $199,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
