Project Introduction
9th Way Insignia is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to design and deploy websites and SharePoint migrations and SharePoint online administration for the Veterans Administration Compliance, Risk and Remediation (CRR) Quality Continuous Improvement Office (QCIO). 9th Way Insignia, in collaboration with QCIO, designs, deploys and maintains all the websites and SharePoint sites for CRR. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience with the design and deployment of web sites and with SharePoint migrations and maintenance in the federal government IT sector. The candidate will have exceptional problem-solving skills and a passion for customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will be a mature team player with the ability to produce results in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

A Senior Software Engineer aligns within 9th way Insignia as an Engineer 2. An Engineer 2 . An Engineer 2 has a good understanding of the software development life cycle and can take on work without much direction majority of the time. Performs multiple engineering-related tasks in various assignments within the project and firm. An Engineer 2 has broad knowledge of engineering procedures and assists in the resolution of complex problems. An Engineer 2, has strong technical skills and background, a knack for learning new technologies, and a blend of good problem-solving and innovation needed to resolve a wide variety of technical production challenges.
Responsibilities
- Create, manage and style web pages
- Identify and resolve broken links, formatting issues, and webpage errors
- Utilize effective UI/UX design principles to enhance web page structure and usability
- Ensure web content is Section 508 compliant
- Ensure SharePoint content complies with Section 508 standards, including accessible documents libraries, forms, and navigation
- Manage SharePoint site collections, permissions and content types
- Design site structures, libraries, metadata, and security policies that ensure compliance with SharePoint governance standards (data retention, security, and access controls)
- Implement document retention, version control, and content lifecycle management best governance compliance practices
- Provide technical assistance for resolving permission issues and optimizing the SharePoint user experience
- Perform SharePoint Migrations utilizing ShareGate to move sites, content, and permissions from on-premises or hybrid SharePoint environments to SharePoint Online while maintaining data integrity
- Assess migration needs, create a strategy, and execute migrations with minimal disruption to users
- Identify and resolve migration errors, performance issues, and broken links
- Ensure proper handling of content types, version history, and metadata
- Provide concise updates on task progress, project status, challenges, and accomplishments that include priorities, timelines, and required resources
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Systems Management or a related field.
- Proven experience (5 years) as a website developer along with demonstrated experience with SharePoint migrations.
- Proficient in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to create, manage, and style web pages.
- Proficient in WordPress Administration with expertise in theme customization, plugin management, and content updates, including basic PHP and MySQL for backend development.
- Experience managing SharePoint permissions (groups, roles, and access controls) and workflows
- Demonstrated ability with ShareGate
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform
- Demonstrated experience with 508-compliance
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Preferred/Desired:
- Technical writing experience
- AWS Cloud Practitioner
- Ability to create web designs
