20Summary:
This Social Worker will primarily work with oncology/hematology patients providing psychosocial assessments, crisis intervention, case management/discharge planning, referral linkage, and emotionally supportive counseling aimed at maintaining functional behavior within families. The social worker assesses families for needed assistance with resource procurement that aids the family's efforts in caring for their child and makes referrals to outside agencies for families in need of assistance. Must be able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and perform administrative tasks.
Hours: Mon., Tues, Thurs (occasional Weds). Requires full-time on-site training for the first 6-8 weeks.
Required Education & Experience:
MSW or MSSW from an accredited school.
Previous experience in hospital oncology preferred.
Prior experience working with children and their families preferred.
Required Certification/Licensure:
Current Texas License for LMSW.
Basis Life Support (BLS) Certification for Health Care Providers required within 30 days of employment.
