The Senior Accountant, East Coast Region position will play a role in financial matters relating to the Benefits, Retirement, and Wealth Management business lines within the region. Functions performed by this position include but are not limited to assisting with the monthly financial close (journal entries and account reconciliations), commission statement processing, acquisition integration, monthly and quarterly invoicing, revenue tracking and analysis, financial reporting, and other activities as requested by management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the monthly close process to ensure that financial statements are prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Prepare account reconciliations and journal entries.  
  • Assist with the integration of firms acquired by NFP (General Ledger, A/P, billing).
  • Pull or prepare financial data and statements to be used for reporting or variance analysis.
  • Track, report, and reconcile payments and statements, investigating and resolving issues when they arise.
  • Coordinate with accounting personnel in other departments or at acquisitions to complete monthly deliverables.
  • Assist with ad hoc project work related to critical accounting and finance initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills and/ or Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), as well as financial reporting functions.
  • Experience preparing account reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Strong with financial processes and systems; invoicing and sales collection cycles, general ledger systems, and high proficiency as an MS Excel user.
  • Ability to complete effectively all monthly close and revenue management activities, given a tight deadline.
  • Must be a well-organized, self-starter with a process improvement driven mentality.
  • Ability to collaborate and develop relationships with coworkers across the organization’s departments and acquired firms.
  • Must possess personal and business integrity with an energetic style demonstrated by a positive attitude and a strong work ethic.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of finance or accounting work experience required.
  • Insurance agency/brokerage experience with business services, professional services, or consulting type firms preferred.
  • Experience preparing account reconciliations and journal entries, as part of a monthly close process.
  • Experience in a continuous improvement, highly collaborative, agile organization.

The base salary range for this position is $65,000 – $85,000. The base salary offered will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level required for the position, the scope of the position, and geographic location. Actual base salary offered will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
