Please review the following job description:

Direct and manage a staff of highly experienced accountants or analysts in the performance of a variety of more complex accounting and reporting activities. Provide leadership in the development, design, implementation and ongoing management of assigned and more complex accounting and reporting processes. Provide training and guidance to subordinates with respect to understanding, recording and reporting more complex accounting transactions. Oversee the accurate and timely compilation and submission of accounting-related reports and filings for assigned area of responsibility in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), management and regulatory requirements. Maintain appropriate internal controls over financial reporting in accordance with the SOX framework and internal policies and standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

1. Direct, manage and lead a staff of highly experienced accountants, analysts and/or managers, including hiring, scheduling, preparing performance evaluations and making salary recommendations.
2. Plan for orderly workflow and growth.
3. Assist and guide subordinates and peers in properly classifying more complex accounting transactions and in identifying and explaining general ledger account variances.
4. Prepare, or review and approve, journal entries and monitor assigned account activity to ensure that they accurately record Truist’s financial transactions in accordance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
5. Ensure that supporting documentation is maintained.
6. Review and approve reconcilements for assigned general ledger accounts in accordance with corporate reconcilement policies and standards.
7. Research and resolve items as necessary. Ensure adequate supporting documentation is maintained.
8. Design, implement and document more complex accounting and reporting process workflow and controls for assigned accounts and subsidiary accounting systems (which may include spreadsheets, databases or applications), including reconcilement and monitoring processes and controls.
9. Effectively implement control refinements as products, processes, GAAP, regulatory reporting requirements or corporate policies change.
10. Design, prepare or review, submit and interpret reports related to financial performance, internal control compliance, budget or forecast variances, etc. for assigned areas of responsibility.
11. Maintain a strong knowledge of GAAP and regulatory reporting requirements applicable to assigned areas of responsibility.
12. Maintain or update existing accounting policies or standards related to areas of responsibility.
13. Review and update policies and procedures for compliance with governmental regulations and corporate policies and standards.
14. Develop new accounting processes and procedures as needed. Assist in the review of assumptions and calculations employed in significant financial models for consistency with GAAP, industry regulations and corporate policies and standards.
15. Ensure that changes to models and assumptions are tested and implemented in conformity with corporate policies and standards.
16. Ensure that responses to auditor/examination requests for information are complete and accurate.
17. Responses to external and regulatory requests should be made in collaboration with Accounting Policy.
18. Ensure prompt remediation of any issues identified.
19. Ensure the submission of required schedules, reports or filings for assigned areas of responsibility to designated reviewer, department or regulatory authority in a timely and accurate manner.
20. Monitor internal and regulatory alerts for changes to filing requirements and deadlines. Work with assigned line of business operations, administration, data center, and/or IT support to ensure complete and accurate data capture, categorization and summary of:
21. Transactional and period-end information for management, regulatory, and financial reports and supporting schedules, and
22. Specialized product, expense, volume, variance, valuation, system use, account activity or trend information for management reports or regulatory filings.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration or equivalent education and related training.
2. Seven years of relevant accounting experience.
3. Three years of supervisory experience.
4. Good interpersonal skills across organizational levels.
5. Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
6. Demonstrated organizational and leadership skills.
7. Ability to prioritize effectively and meet critical deadlines.
8. Ability to work independently and as a productive member of a team.
9. Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications, such as Microsoft Office products, with an emphasis in spreadsheets, word processing and database software.
10. Strong foundation in GAAP concepts.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Professional designation as a CPA or CMA Master’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration.
2. Public accounting or regulatory experience specific to area of responsibility.
3. Seven years of financial services accounting experience.
