Job Description
The Sr. Manager, Professional Development and Attorney Training oversees the implementation of the educational curriculum for all Attorneys.Primary Responsibilities and/or Essential functions:
- Supports and collaborates with the team overseeing the development, implementation and administration of programs created with the Professional Development Committee, including Mentoring, Associate Development Goals, CLE Training, and New Associate Orientation.
- Contributes to and occasionally lead in the development and implementation of special projects designed to improve professional development and the environment of associates, partners and counsel.
- Manages members of the Professional Development (PD) Team in NY and coordinate/communicate with all other PD contacts in the US and London.
- Manages CLE and skills training for Attorneys including development and implementation of legal skills training programs and non-legal skills initiatives e.g. business development, project management and other areas that enhance professionalism.
- Facilitates with the implementation of Associate Development Goals and align them with CLE/training programs offered to Associates.
- Administers the mentoring program, which includes developing policies, monitoring participation, mentoring assignments, and developing, coordinating and/or executing mentoring activities and events.
- Oversees the planning and execution of New Associate Orientation
- Oversees the maintenance of the PD website including CLE and training resources and opportunities, as well as marketing initiatives.
- Manages the PD budget and ensure that PD initiatives are on point with budgetary constraints and allocated expenses.
- Any additional responsibilities as required by management.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Learning & development professional with 7+ years of experience supporting or managing professional development programs for lawyers OR a JD with strong interest in professional development work
- Demonstrated ability and experience successfully managing team members.
- Strong writing, presentation and organizational skills.
- Drive and enthusiasm to work and complete assignments under tight scheduling deadlines in a team-oriented environment.
- Demonstrated customer service focus and team-first orientation.
- Ability to respond quickly under tight deadline pressure.
- Proven creativity, conceptual skills development and resourcefulness, as well as demonstrated experience effecting organizational initiatives and vision
- Organizational and political savvy in working within a large Professional Services Organization.
- Ability to negotiate individual, group and firm-wide needs.
- Interface successfully with multiple levels of the Attorney Programs and Resources team (partners, associates, legal support staff and Marketing and Business Development staff).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with the Firm’s professional development team across all sites.
- Top 100 Law firm experience a plus.
Education/Certifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- J.D. highly preferred.
Estimated salary range is $195,000 - $220,000. Compensation decisions within the range are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case including but not limited to the individual's skills, experience, and qualifications.
