PetSmart Veterinary Services (PVS) is an independent veterinary ownership model that is rapidly growing inside PetSmart locations in the US and Puerto Rico. PVS provides a complete solution for veterinarians to open their own franchised veterinary practice. Launched in 2022, PVS hospitals connect pet parents with local, trusted veterinarians with convenient veterinarian hospital locations within PetSmart stores. About the Location
Hybrid Position:
This position may be considered Hybrid based on PetSmart’s FlexSmart policy and business needs. A Hybrid work arrangement is considered to be a blend of onsite and remote work activity. Associates with a Hybrid work arrangement have a work space at Phoenix Home Office and can be required to come onsite between 1-5 days a week as determined by leadership and based on business needs.
About the Job
Role Overview:
The Sr. Marketing Manager, Veterinary Health Services will be responsible for supporting the execution and follow-up of marketing strategies across veterinary health services within the business portfolio, including all PVS hospitals. This person will work closely with the marketing team to manage local marketing efforts, hospital relationship management, website content updates, and special projects. Additionally, they will assist with event-based marketing and community engagement, ensuring that strategies are aligned with broader business objectives and executed efficiently.
The ideal candidate will bring strong project management skills, a proactive mindset, and a passion for results, supporting both day-to-day operations and long-term business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead marketing programs from inception through implementation
- Act as the primary executor of marketing strategies and tactics, ensuring initiatives are implemented on time and on budget.
- Take ownership of local marketing efforts at each PVS location, focusing on hospital relationships, community engagement, and geo-targeted marketing opportunities.
- Drive adoption events and experiential marketing initiatives at the local and regional levels, ensuring they align with the overall brand strategy.
Develop and execute marketing strategies with a customer lens
- Use a deep understanding of local community needs and insights to build impactful marketing strategies.
- Identify opportunities for leveraging key community events and holidays to drive business growth across veterinary locations.
- Curate content and assets for hospital websites, ensuring updates are made regularly and reflect the marketing goals for each location.
Partner cross-functionally to execute business priorities
- Serve as the main point of contact for internal and external partners, including marketing teams, store leaders, and hospital staff, to ensure alignment and successful execution of initiatives.
- Collaborate with creative teams to develop marketing materials that support campaigns, events, and promotions.
- Work with adoption partners to manage the relationship and ensure event execution meets both marketing and operational objectives.
Develop and gain alignment on marketing plans
- Assist with creating creative briefs for local and national campaigns, collaborating with internal teams to ensure messaging and materials are aligned with business goals.
- Ensure key stakeholders are informed and aligned on marketing initiatives, including tracking progress and reporting results.
- Provide regular updates to internal partners and leadership on key initiatives, including metrics, learnings, and next steps for optimization.
Track project progress and budget management
- Manage the progress of local marketing initiatives, track key performance metrics, and ensure the timely and effective execution of campaigns.
- Assist in managing budgets for specific marketing campaigns, ensuring that initiatives are completed within budget while meeting business objectives
Support strategic business initiatives through event marketing
- Assist in the planning and execution of event-based marketing, from community adoption events to in-store activations, to drive measurable results.
- Act as an ambassador for experiential marketing, providing insights and support to drive event participation and community engagement.
- Ensure that event-driven marketing efforts are tracked and analyzed to inform future strategies.
Proactive support of daily marketing needs
- Field ad-hoc requests from doctors, marketing teams, and hospital staff, ensuring tasks are prioritized and completed in a timely manner.
- Act as a liaison between the PetSmart marketing team and individual PVS locations, ensuring smooth communication and execution of day-to-day tasks.
- Support the rollout of new technologies, dashboards, and marketing processes across locations, ensuring feedback and updates are communicated effectively.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field
- 4-6 years of experience in marketing or communications, with a strong focus on local marketing, community engagement, and marketing strategy execution.
- Agency experience is preferred, particularly in managing multiple projects and cross-functional collaboration.
- Experience in client services or partner relationship management is highly desirable, as the role will involve working closely with doctors and other stakeholders, fostering strong, service-oriented relationships.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with content management systems (CMS) is preferred.
- Ability to analyze data, develop insights, and adjust strategies to improve marketing performance.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport and credibility with peers, cross-functional partners, and management.
