We're actively recruiting for a Staff Accountant for our growing company with a current base of approximately 1600 employees. Reporting to the Accounting Supervisor, the Staff Accountant will mainly be responsible for month end close, audit requests related to areas of responsibility & other ad hoc projects. This is an opportunity to continue efforts in building a finance and accounting department while serving as a driving force in improving the health and well-being of millions of patients. We are flexible with respect to geographic location, and the ideal candidate will be comfortable working remotely/work from home within the US or be based from Bethesda, MD office.
Responsibilities:
The Staff Accountant will be a vital member of the finance and accounting team at a fast-growing start-up. Key responsibilities include:
Month-End Close:
- Manage corporate credit card accounting, which includes collecting, reviewing and reconciling transaction receipts to credit card statements.
- Assist in preparing prepaid expense journal entries and related amortization.
- Maintain the fixed assets module by recording fixed asset additions, disposals and depreciation entries in the general ledger system. Perform regular reviews for impairment indicators.
- Assist in monitoring and preparing of monthly vendor expense accruals
- Prepare journal entries for transactions within areas of responsibility, including proper identification of expense coding, accounting period, cost center and location.
- Communicate regularly with key business partners, including FP&A, accounts payable and procurement teams.
- Prepare account reconciliations for all general ledger accounts within areas of responsibility
Financial Reporting:
- Assist in preparing monthly financial statements by performing analytical procedures on accounts in areas of responsibility.
- Support the preparation of audit schedules for assigned areas of responsibility and providing support for selected audit requests.
Special Projects and Ad-Hoc Requests:
- Assist with various ad-hoc requests and special projects.
Candidate Profile:
- CPA license is a preferred or actively pursuing CPA license.
- Healthcare/SaaS experience preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in either public accounting or an accounting role with a public company preferred
- Thorough knowledge of general ledger accounting and account reconciliation.
- NetSuite experience is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Must comply with HIPAA rules and regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively across the organization.
