Responsibilities

Summary: The Consultant acts as a healthcare sterile processing and perioperative operations expert who brings innovative solutions and improvements to our healthcare customers. This position requires a unique blend of sterile processing, hospital perioperative operations, analytical and financial knowledge to ensure the needs of the customer are met during consulting engagements. Lead aspects of various consulting engagements to include preparation, customer communication, onsite assessments and formal recommendations. These functions will help to ensure that project goals and objectives are accomplished with high quality, within established time frames and budget commitments to meet the customer business needs.

Principal Duties Responsibilities:

  • With minimal guidance, form conclusions, strategies and recommendations that help our clients make informed decisions and demonstrate leadership in finding solutions to client problems
  • Lead client interactions and build rapport and credibility with client professionals and various levels in their organization
  • Ability to articulate the benefits of all Aesculap consulting solutions.
  • Ability to independently articulate root cause issues and remediation options.
  • Independently develop tasks and workplans for consulting engagements (as needed to deliver SOW or generate secondary opportunities)
  • Develop and provide presentations to client senior executives
  • Demonstrate existing professional expertise in all sterile supply functional areas (understanding of clinical operations and supply chain preferred)
  • Ability to conduct process mapping (process flow, capacity studies, equipment requirements, forecasting of needs to meet future demands, etc) and articulate sterile processing and perioperative workflow, staffing, and best practice according to national recommended standards and practice.
  • Demonstrates excellent professional presence, communication, and presentation abilities with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to independently manage complex tasks and projects and to evaluate, troubleshoot and make difficult decisions.
  • Ability to communicate appropriately with all levels of leadership within Aesculap and our customers up to and including the CEO, COO, CFO, and CNO.
  • Provide direction to junior team members on projects
  • With guidance of leadership, identify and pitch new business development opportunities
  • Demonstrates superior working knowledge of equipment and personnel in sterile processing departments.
  • Ability to evaluate, analyze, troubleshoot and make actionable recommendations.
  • Performs job functions without direct supervision.
  • Has direct contact with other departmental and professional employees, physicians and their staff, sales representatives, and the general public.
  • Requires good interpersonal skills to resolve issues between employees, other department personnel and surgeons, and to promote cooperation between the various functions within each area of responsibility.
  • Requires broad and specific knowledge in the use of medical supplies, instruments, and equipment.
  • Maintains corporate ethics and compliance expectations.
  • Must comply with applicable ISO and FDA regulations as stated in Quality Manual

  • Other duties may be assigned

Secondary or peripheral job functions:

  • Must be able to travel up to 70% annually domestically by air and car, and work occasional weekends. Must possess a valid government issued drivers license and passport.
  • Normal office hours are from 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday; however working additional hours and during weekends as required by the nature of the position is expected.
  • Must be able to analyze and resolve non-routine issues using independent judgment and analytical skills
  • Must have excellent time management skills with ability to use independent judgment to prioritize effectively
  • Must be able to work with clinical and business personnel, both internal and external to Aesculap
  • Ability to influence people in their opinions, attitude or judgments; to generalize, evaluates and makes decisions in stressful situations.
  • Oriented towards solution-based thinking
  • Able to pass and maintain annual Vendor Credentials such that healthcare facilities allow entrance into patient care areas in direct association with the provision of consulting services.
  • This position may require the handling of instruments that may have been contaminated by blood or other bodily fluids. In compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, Aesculap will provide a safe working environment for all employees.

It is an essential function of this position for an employee to be present and in-person at the physical site(s) of our customers and potential customers. Many of our customers and potential customers are in clinical settings, including, but not limited to, hospitals, clinics, and other health care clinics (hereinafter, "Healthcare Customers"). Many of our Healthcare Customers require outside vendors like us to present proof that they have certain requisite vaccinations and immunizations, including, but not limited to, vaccinations against COVID-19 and seasonal influenza, before being granted entry into the Healthcare Customers' clinical settings. To gain access to our Healthcare Customers clinical settings, field sales, field service, and other customer facing professionals are required to register with the vendor credentialing organization associated with the Healthcare Customers, complete the Healthcare Customers' required process, and undergo a series of clearances. Vendor credentialing clearances include, but are not limited to, a national criminal background check, drug screening, and immunizations as determined by the vendors, which may include, but are not limited to, Influenza, Hepatitis B Virus, and COVID-19. You must fully comply with the requirements of the Healthcare Customers in your region, including any necessary proof of any vaccination. As such, all individuals in this position assigned to a Healthcare Customer with a COVID-19, Influenza, Hepatitis B Virus, or other vaccination requirement must be fully vaccinated and/or immunized in accordance with the Healthcare Customers' requirements. The targeted range for this role takes into account a range of factors that are considered when making compensation and hiring decisions; included but not limited to: skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The range provided is a reasonable estimate.

Target Based Range

$134,600 to $144,600 (plus variable compensation)

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • BA or BS preferred or minimum of 10 years of related healthcare industry experience healthcare process improvement experience highly preferred.
  • Certification in LEAN Management or 6 Sigma highly preferred.
  • 3 - 5 years experience in a management position preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in Peri-operative Services or Central Service Departments preferred.
  • Maintains current knowledge of federal regulations and other regulatory bodies; i.e. JCAHO, CMS, OSHA, AAMI, AORN, FDA and other standards as applicable to various areas.
  • Above average computer skills in Windows, Microsoft Office Suite of products, Word, Excel, and Power Point required.

Expertise: Knowledge & Skills

  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect date, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
