Job Summary
The Survey Methodology Program (SMP) is seeking an experienced and highly qualified Student Administration Manager to provide leadership, oversight, and support for all academic and student services activities within the program. This role will serve the students in the Program in Survey and Data Science (PSDS) at the Survey Research Center, Institute for Social Research.
The Student Administration Manager will oversee key areas including recruitment and admissions, financial aid, records and registration, curricular and co-curricular activities, and student support services. In addition, this position will provide administrative oversight for the educational programs within SMP, ensuring high-quality services for both students and faculty while contributing to the program's overall goals.
We are looking for a dynamic leader who can collaborate effectively with SMP program director and colleagues to lead a robust and effective student services team. The Student Administration Manager will report directly to the Director of PSDS and play a key role in shaping and enhancing the student experience throughout the program.

Responsibilities*
Student Recruitment and Admissions (35%):
- Manage recruitment and admissions activities, including handling inquiries, developing a recruitment/marketing plan, and coordinating faculty involvement.
- Coordinate recruitment for PSDS and other educational programs such as the Sampling Program, Summer Institute, and Diversity Fellowship Program.
- Organize department information sessions, campus recruitment events, and build relationships with feeder departments and schools.
- Maintain presence at Rackham Graduate School for admissions-related functions.
- Coordinate the admissions committee, process applications, communicate offers, and discuss funding opportunities.
Student Services (25%):
- Facilitate job placements for MS and PhD students based on committed funding.
- Collaborate with Grants and Contracts staff and faculty to identify available positions.
- Develop partnerships with various ISR and campus departments for student job opportunities.
- Process appointment paperwork for MS student temporary appointments and coordinate GSI and GSRA paperwork.
- Manage student space allocation within SMP.
- Oversee social and community-building events and supervise Academic and/or Research Program Officers.
- Act as a liaison for ISR/SRC DEI initiatives.
Academic Services (15%):
- Oversee academic services within PSDS, including supporting the faculty curriculum committee and ensuring the timely scheduling of courses.
- Manage course approval processes for new courses and ensure grade submission each term.
- Oversee course evaluation processes and staff providing course support.
- Ensure classroom functionality and update policies and procedures as needed.
General Administration (25%):
- Manage general administrative and daily operations of the educational programs.
- Attend relevant campus, ISR, department, and staff meetings as directed.
- Coordinate with faculty on Curriculum and Exam Committees.
- Plan staff meetings and participate in the Rackham Program Review process.
- Involve in educational programs budget planning and oversee the process.
- Serve as a contact for reports and information requests from ISR and the campus community.
- Supervise student administrative assistants and stay informed on University of Michigan and Rackham Graduate School policies.
- Offer guidance on University and department policies to faculty, staff, and students.
- Undertake any additional projects or duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience.
- Demonstrated success in student recruitment activities.
- Experience with the university admissions process.
- Ability to prioritize, manage, and complete multiple projects independently, exercising initiative and judgment within established guidelines.
- Strong organizational, communication (verbal and written), and attention to detail skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the capability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students.
- Commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive community.
- High proficiency with MS Office, Google Workspace, and other applications.
Desired Qualifications*
- Experience with graduate admission evaluation in a university setting, including transcript evaluations, qualitative, and quantitative admission assessments.
Work Locations
Work location is expected to be onsite in Ann Arbor with flexibility for hybrid work within our overall Center policies.
