Railcar Maintenance Supervisor
Where will you work: This is an onsite role. You will work out of our New Wales Concentrates facility. You can expect to travel to our other facilities in the Bone Valley: Bartow, Riverview, and Agrock. You will be provided with a company work truck for this local travel. You will also be eligible to work a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off.
We’re seeking a dynamic leader to manage our railcar maintenance operations. You’ll ensure our sulfur tank cars meet FRA safety and environmental standards while adhering to company policies. This role involves coordinating repairs and maintenance across various departments and locations, including working with third-party contractors. You’ll also handle inventory for repair parts and assist with the rail maintenance budget. You will thrive in this role If you’re organized, detail-oriented, and ready to make an impact!
What you’ll do:
Inspect hopper car gates, hatches, and roofs at various locations to determine the scope of work needed for railcar repairs.
Repair, replace, and maintain gates and hatches at various locations.
Consult, supervise, and direct car maintenance operations with various 3rd party vendors to maximize car utilization and reduce recurring maintenance and downtime.
Direct daily operations and activities of 3rd party crews to ensure bad ordered cars are properly located for repair.
Inspect sulfur cars to ensure all placards are legible and replace them when needed.
Use and maintain software systems for railcar maintenance tracking to ensure availability of bad ordered cars and reduce downtime across multiple locations.
Supervise the bad order life cycle in OIS to ensure cars in bad order status are being repaired.
Analyze and determine if cars need to be repaired on-site or moved to a shop.
Open shopping events for cars that need to go to an offsite shop.
Prepare cars for movement to a scrapper.
What you’ll need:
HS Diploma with 5+ years of relevant experience
Welding and/or hopper railcar experience
Knowledge of railcar and FRA compliance standards
Proficient in MS Office Suite
Demonstrated ability to lead a small team
Local travel up to 10%
