Systems Administrators install, maintain, and upgrade internal computer hardware and software systems including designing, developing, and implementing IT services. Systems Administrators propose and implement enhancements that improve the reliability, security, and performance of the system, and monitor usage and performance.
Costco Travel is looking for a Systems Administrator with cross-functional knowledge and experience to ensure the availability, reliability, and optimization of all operational and functional aspects of a predominately Windows-based server environment at the Costco Travel Call Center and E-Commerce data centers. This person will monitor and maintain all components of the server operating environments including system, software and hardware troubleshooting and diagnostics. Key responsibilities include researching, developing and implementing solutions to maintain and enhance current systems, providing 3rd tier support to other I.T. staff, implementing and enforcing security and system policies (PCI), evaluating new technologies to enhance our computing environments, and applying maintenance and feature updates to current operating and system software. ROLE
● Configures, implements, customizes, and tests software/hardware; duplicates and documents software/hardware defects; and reviews and interprets error logs and source codes to diagnose errors
● Develops and documents technical requirements for projects/enhancements
● Creates and maintains technical design documentation and identifies which applications are impacted by the solution and associated interfaces
● Drives governance through designing, developing, implementing, supporting, and documenting enterprise policies, standards, guidelines, monitoring services, solutions, configurations, and procedures
● Researches, analyzes, and recommends changes required for system growth by utilizing industry standard monitoring and research tools
● Identifies opportunities for streamlining, increasing effectiveness through continuous process improvement
● Identifies and resolves problems, often anticipating issues before they occur or before they grow, develops and evaluates options, implements solutions, communicates results to ensure corrective and timely action is taken, and manages incident resolution to ensure all components work together
● Manages/Coordinates virtual and physical servers including: server provisioning, upgrading, installing, monitoring, maintaining, and performance optimization
● Identifies, develops, implements, reviews, and revises process improvements, procedures, and controls to ensure data accuracy, security, and legal and regulatory compliance
● Recommends and follows security management practices, including the ongoing promotion of awareness on current threats, auditing of server logs, and other security management processes
● Ensures all system elements work together through design reviews, providing constructive feedback to teams, and coaching team members on new technologies and project deliverables
● Creates queries, programs, scripts, and reports supporting and adhering to change control policies that help to define and develop best practices for Systems Management
● Implements practices, processes, and procedures consistent with Costco's information security policy and IT standards
● Researches, recommends and develops innovative, automated, approaches for systems admins tasks
● Evaluates system specifications, input and out processes, and working parameters for hardware and software compatibility
● Performs shell and kernel-level programming and system-specific requirements
● Oversees daily administration and operation of server, network, and e-commerce infrastructure environments
● Assists in the integration of new applications and technologies
● Becomes a Subject Matter Expert (SME) with new technologies as needed
● Provides training and documentation to others as needed or required
● Works closely with other areas of business operations
● Provides 24 X 7 on-call support as part of a scheduled rotation with other team members
● Serves as a help desk escalation resource
REQUIRED
● 8+ years’ working in a Microsoft Server OS environment (including AD administration and GP management)
● 8+ years’ current and demonstrable experience with network/systems administration
● 5+ years’ supporting an E-commerce server infrastructure
● 5+ years’ working with Windows 2016, 2019 Server
● Broad-based technical knowledge in storage and backup solutions, host systems, networks, applications, data, and security
● Team oriented and willing to assist other members when needed
● Highly motivated, self-starter, able to work independently, multi-task, respond to changing priorities and initiative to own specific tasks
● Knowledge of other industry operating systems such as Linux and Mac OS
● Knowledge and experience of infrastructure monitoring solutions
● Strong problem determination, troubleshooting, and resolution skills
● Excellent written and oral communication skills
● Excellent customer service skills

Pay Ranges:
Level 1 - $70,000 - $95,000
Level 2 - $90,000 - $120,000
Level 3 - $115,000 - $150,000
