What You Will Be Doing:  

• Lead and direct high-priority projects and project teams, which often require considerable resources and high levels of functional integration. Establish and maintain project interpersonal relationships and overall team dynamics throughout the project.
• Effectively apply Project Management industry standards and practices in the areas of project planning, coordinating, scope management, budget management, schedule management, monitoring/control, and reporting on assigned capital projects. Perform duties as defined in the WTD project management manual using PMI methodology.
• Perform project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring/control, and closeout for assigned projects. Develop project plans, manage the project scope of work, schedule, budget, and contract requirements, and execute plans for the design, procurement, and construction phase of assigned projects.
• Procure and administer project and contract requirements and standards in accordance with King County policies and procedures. 
• Monitor and control project work, report on the status of assigned projects, measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques, identify and quantify variances, perform required corrective actions, and communicate to all stakeholders.

Qualifications You Bring:     

• Possesses a bachelor's degree in project management, capital project environment, engineering, construction management, business administration, or a closely related field or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the transferable skills to perform the WCPM II position.
• Experience with wastewater utility, public works, infrastructure, buildings, control systems, mechanical systems, and asset replacement or equivalent.
• Work experience as a capital project manager or equivalent field.
• Working knowledge of project management processes and areas described by the Project Management Institute's Project Management Body of Knowledge.
• Awareness of engineering and construction management techniques and principles, contract administration principles, and critical path method (CPM) project scheduling.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with various staff possessing varied skill/knowledge levels.
• Experience leading project teams and collaboratively working through project decisions.
• Knowledge of project, program, and portfolio management principles and project prioritization and ranking methodology. 
• Experience working effectively with various project stakeholders, such as senior management, local jurisdictions, regulatory agencies, and community groups.
• Skills in conflict resolution, negotiation, and emotional self-awareness.
• Excellent skills in management and leadership, as well as a strong understanding of both areas of competence. 
• Strong software skills that support the delivery of work products as well as gathering, manipulating, and using data, such as Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, and database management programs.

• Washington State Driver's License

• Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification

Working Conditions

• Remote and Onsite Work Details: Employees in this role work remotely from a home location, with onsite reporting requirements (Brightwater, South Plant, and/or West Point) typically two times per week. The frequency of onsite work is determined by business needs and may be adjusted accordingly. Onsite reporting locations may be at various King County worksites including the collaboration space at King Street Center (201 S. Jackson St, Seattle, WA 98104). This work arrangement promotes work-life-balance and reduces carbon footprint under the department's vision of Green Where We Work.

• Work Schedule: This full-time position works a 40-hour work week. This position is exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) provisions and is not overtime-eligible.
