Job Summary
The Applications Administrator (under the direct supervision of the Manager, Systems Administration) supports operations with the management of security technology applications. Specifically, the Administrator creates, maintains, audits, and enforces security plans and policies used within applications. This role will work with various groups such as network and other enterprise technology teams to properly support healthy applications used by Physical Security. The Administrator ensures consistency in all applications, consults with third-party partners (internal and external), and ensures the appropriate documentation of activities. Exceptional communication and customer service skills are required to effectively support this position. This position is remote.Job Description
Core Responsibilities
- Assists the day-to-day operations, preparedness, and overall health of applications used by Physical Security.
- Collaborates with their direct supervisor to capture workload and key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess activities.
- Assists in conducting internal audits to ensure adherence to established policies and practices, recommending improvements, as necessary.
- Where areas of opportunity exist, create technology solutions within applications or seek additional applications to help solve the issue.
- Successfully completes firmware, certificates, and application updates.
- Supports the implementation and maintenance of operating procedures and processes.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams (network, data center, etc.) to foster partnership and awareness.
- Contributes to the development of the security strategy and the implementation of security technology initiatives.
- Monitors security system applications and technologies to identify potential security incidents or breaches.
- Performs audits based on need and/ or compliance requirements.
- Assists in analyzing security events and incidents, contributing to their assessment of severity and potential impact.
- Participates in investigations of failures/ incidents, assisting in gathering evidence, documenting findings, and recommending appropriate actions.
- Assists in conducting analysis of security logs, alerts, and other data sources to identify patterns, trends, and potential risks.
- Provides input and suggestions for improving security applications, processes, and procedures based on analysis and assessment of security incidents.
- Supports the development and implementation of security awareness and training programs for Physical Security personnel and their stakeholders and/ or staff.
- Contributes to the maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and guidelines for Systems Administration.
- Assists in the creation of security reports, gathering and organizing information for presentation to management and stakeholders.
- Stays informed about the latest security technologies, tools, and best practices to enhance the capabilities of the overall program.
- Performs other duties as assigned by senior team members.
Additional Requirements
- Basic knowledge of security principles, practices, and technologies.
- Must be certified in both Genetec Synergis and Omnicast.
- Must be certified in AMAG Symmetry Essentials
- Familiarity with security information and event management (SIEM) tools and other security technologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to contribute to critical thinking and decision-making processes.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work well within a team environment.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Education
- Associate's / Bachelor's Degree preferred in an area of study relevant to this position.
Related Work Experience
- Generally, requires experience working internally with Comcast Security for a full year as a contractor or employee.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification or active enrollment in Genetec's Administrator training.
- Familiarity with SQL management.
- Security operations center, call center, or emergency dispatch center experience is a plus.
Working Conditions
- Position requires extended hours working remotely in front of a screen, on conference calls, and other remote functions.
- Must be flexible with schedules and willing to work holidays, nights, weekends, and overtime.
- This role is expected to work weekends regularly as needed.
- Potentially high-stress environment with exposure to multiple aspects of emergency incidents.
