$83.004 - $107.101 - $131.199The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant's years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.
What You Will Do
To provide the professional, clinical and technical knowledge, and skills and expertise required for the provision of comprehensive pharmaceutical care in the ambulatory care setting.
Required Qualifications
- Other : Education pursuant to licensure requirement.
- AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED
- California Pharmacist License - CA State Board of Pharmacy -REQUIRED
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 Year experience in a retail pharmacy environment.
Other Qualification Requirements
- AHA BLS is required within 90 days of hire.
Essential Functions
- Achieves patient and pharmacoeconomic outcomes
Clarify and/or verify therapeutic issues or problems with prescribing physician and documents interventions.
Demonstrates knowledge of and active participation in the outpatient pharmacy quality assurance program: medication error monitoring and reporting.
Demonstrates thoughtful and thorough identification, evaluation and analysis of triggers/medication use issues that might contribute to adverse drug events and medication errors.
Contributes to improving in safe medication practice including the mandatory completion and submission of quality assurance data collection forms that contribute to the outpatient pharmacy quality assurance program. - Daily operations
Effectively demonstrates leadership in the achievement of pharmacy goals by providing daily work direction and supervision of technical and ancillary staff.
Consistently assures and completes assigned workload/projects. Delegates additional tasks as needed to efficiently utilize time and quality of work.
Supervises employees for compliance with policy and procedure, disciplinary procedures and company guidelines in behalf of the Pharmacist In Charge in his/her absence.
Reconciles daily prescription reports for accuracy and assure pharmacist signature in accordance with State of California Board of Pharmacy.
Willing and able to step into any technical role to help achieve a smooth pharmacy work flow during peak business hours.
Willing and able to fill in at other sites to help meet the needs of the pharmacy. - Inventory control
Ensures that medication dispensed has appropriate expiration date.
Ensures the monitoring and documentation of refrigerator/freezer temperatures daily.
Accurately inventories and orders prescription medications daily prior to end of shift.
Create daily orders of medications and supplies from wholesaler and transmit each morning and evening.
Maintains adequate inventory, takes the necessary steps to ensure an accurate inventory and monitors the inventory process.
Perform all opening and closing procedures; securing pharmacy according to California State Board of Pharmacy. - Medication dispensing
Reviews computerized patient medication profiles for appropriateness of drug therapy, therapeutic duplication, drug allergies, weight, height, minimum and maximum dosing guidelines, age specific requirements, drug interactions and other pertinent factors.
Selects, assembles and compounds all ingredients in the required amounts according to master formulas and special requests, using an extensive knowledge of ingredient properties and characteristics, computational accuracy, measuring systems and devices, and sterile technique.
Understands and maintains knowledge of contracted third party formularies and plan limitations.
Informs patients of any problems or delays of prescriptions including, but not limited to, medications not covered by third parties.
Responds to drug information requests promptly and professionally.
Counsels patients for proper dosage/usage, side effects, duration of therapy, and possible drug/food interactions with current medications consistent with professional standards and OBRA-90 regulations.
Assures controlled substances are dispensed with accuracy. Maintains integrity of all record keeping. Assist with narcotic inventories as required. Discovers and investigates discrepancies in narcotic inventory.
Prepares narcotic orders as supplier to medical clinic office and other SRS pharmacy sites.
Compliance with regulations on controlled substance prescriptions is implemented and adhered to.
Maintains organized, clean and safe working environment.
Assumes daily responsibility for maintaining financial performance within the department by effective inventory control, accurate cash transactions, assuring proper billing of third-party insurers, providing clinical input on cost-effective therapy and assuring daily flexing of staff hours. - Typing skills
Using a keyboard, required to type proficiently and accurately.
Ability to type a minimum of 30 words per minute with 0-2 errors.
Ability to proof work.
