Summary:
The Magnet Program Coordinator provides direction and coordination of all activities related to achieving and maintaining Magnet status for UNC Health Nash.
Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate the Magnet application, documentation, designation, bi-annual reports and redesignation.
2. Coordinate the integration of Magnet standards into the nursing and hospital infrastructure.
3. Assist in coordinating and interpreting the data of the National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI) or vendor of choice for patient outcomes and nurse satisfaction.
4. Provide a systemic approach to Magnet project management and implementation by coordinating all phases of designation and re-designation process:
a. Application/DDCT
b. Document submission process.
c. Site visit coordination and preparation.
d. Designation, biannual report, and re-designation process.
e. Contribute to an environment of motivation and commitment to Magnet status.
5. Coordinate the development of a shared governance/shared decision-making system in nursing for UNC Health Nash. Serve as an advisor to any shared governance/shared decision-making councils and nursing leadership.
6. Lead Magnet committees and coordinate Magnet related education and staff development.
7. Coaches and mentors nurses at all levels in their understanding of and practical application of Magnet standards.
8. Develop and monitor Magnet budget.
9. Provide consultation to other areas regarding Magnet standards, both internal and external to the organization.
10.Serve as liaison to the ANCC Magnet Program Office (MPO).
Other information:
Education Requirements:
· Master’s degree in nursing field
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
· National Nursing Certification preferred.
· RN license in state of North Carolina
Professional Experience Requirements:
· 5 years of clinical experience
· 3 years of progressive management experience
· Research experience preferred.
· Experience with professional standards.
Additional Specialized Knowledge/Skills:
· Demonstrated coaching and leadership skills, and excellent interpersonal relationship skills.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Demonstrated ability to work with interprofessional teams.
· Ability to demonstrate Magnet philosophy through coaching and mentoring.
