We are seeking a Downstream Associate Scientist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will support our team in testing affinity resins derived from Avitide’s proprietary affinity ligand discovery platform, with emphasis on developing and optimizing downstream processes for the purification of biopharmaceutical products. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the advancement of novel therapies and medicines that impact global health.
Responsibilities
The Downstream Associate Scientist will be responsible for:
- Performance of experiments to support development of affinity chromatography purification methods for various biopharmaceuticals, ensuring scalability, and efficiency, with an emphasis on high throughput screening techniques.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including Ligand Discovery, Analytical Sciences, Resin Manufacturing to ensure project success.
- Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve technical issues related to affinity resin performance and characterization. A general working knowledge of cutting edge biotherapeutic molecules is a bonus.
- Training and Mentorship: Provide training and mentorship to junior scientists and technicians within the downstream process development team.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 0-2 years (Master’s) or 2-3 years (Bachelor’s) of experience in downstream process development within the biopharmaceutical industry.
- Technical Skills: Understanding of protein science, chromatography; experience with FPLC operation and high throughput screening techniques are desirable
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present technical information and collaborate across disciplines.
- Problem-Solving: Curiosity for troubleshooting and solving technical scientific challenges related to downstream processes.
