As a Supplier Quality Manager Level 1, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving the quality of materials and components supplied to our organization. You will work closely with senior management, procurement, and engineering teams to evaluate and monitor supplier performance, conduct audits, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. This entry-level management position is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong foundation in quality assurance and a desire to grow in the field of supplier quality management.
Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product. Collaborates with Global Supply Chain (GSC), Engineering and Manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place. Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment. Oversees quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications. Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction. Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements. May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality. May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies.

Guidance Given, Assignments Received Assignments are received in task oriented terms. Provides direction to subordinates using established policies and precedents. Work is reviewed for adequacy in meeting objectives. Knowledge and Technical Skills Analysis & interpretation. Full working knowledge of procedures and practices. Decision Making Relates more to specific job function. Risk to the Corporation is minimal. Makes decisions relating to accomplishment of daily work responsibilities. Direct Work Involvement Monitors work operations of exempt and/or non-exempt employees on a daily basis and actively assists or provides direction to subordinates as required. May perform, especially in staff or professional groups, on-going operational tasks of organizational groups. Policy Involvement: Executes department procedures that typically affect individual employees within own department. Policy management: Administers and executes policies and procedures that typically affect individual subordinate employees. Supervisory Relationships: Accomplishes tasks mainly through direct supervision of nonexempt and exempt employees. Meets the minimum requirements of executive exemption under the Fair Labor Standards Act. Operations Involvement / Direct Work Involvement: Monitors daily operations, or provides direction to, subordinates as required. May perform, especially in staff or professional groups, ongoing operational tasks of organizations unit. Impact: Ensures that projects are completed on schedule following established procedures and schedules. Erroneous decisions or recommendations or failure to achieve results might cause delays in program schedules and result in the allocation of more resources. Liaison: Majority of liaison is on internal basis with subordinates and supervisors at equivalent level or one level higher. Liaison normally involves specific phases of a project or operation. External contacts are infrequent and involve routine matters.
Quality Management: Manage and assess supplier performance using key metrics, including defect rates, and compliance with specifications. -
Issue Resolution: Work with suppliers to resolve quality-related issues, including conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Collaboration: Collaborate with procurement, engineering, and production teams to communicate quality requirements and ensure that supplier materials meet the necessary standards.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of supplier audits, quality reports, and related documentation.
Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing supplier quality and reducing costs.
Supplier Evaluation: Assist in the evaluation and qualification of new suppliers based on quality standards, including conducting initial assessments and audits. -
Supplier Audits: Support the planning and execution of supplier audits to ensure compliance with company standards and industry regulations. Prepare audit reports and track corrective actions.
Qualifications:
Education Bachelor's degree in engineering, Quality Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in quality assurance, supplier quality, or a related field. Internship or co-op experience in supplier quality management is also acceptable.
Skills: Basic understanding of quality management systems (QMS) and supplier quality processes. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. - Excellent communication and negotiation skills. - Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities. - Familiarity with quality tools and methodologies such as root cause analysis, CAPA, and statistical process control (SPC). - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications: ASQ Certification, ISO 9001 Internal Auditor, Six Sigma Yellow Belt, or similar certifications are a plus. -
Industry Experience: Experience in Aerospace or manufacturing is advantageous.
Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of supplier processes, materials, and manufacturing techniques relevant to the industry.
Salary Range: $90,300 - $135,500
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
