The Office Systems Specialist II - VCIN

Join the City of Chesapeake Police Department as an Office Systems Specialist II and take the next step in your career supporting critical law enforcement information systems. This is a supervisory position responsible for providing leadership, direction, and oversight to assigned staff while ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and security of essential criminal justice information systems. This position plays a key role within the unit by coordinating daily operations, guiding staff performance, and ensuring compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and certification requirements.Responsibilities include:
  • Supervising assigned staff, including training, scheduling, assigning, and evaluating work.
  • Maintaining the VCIN/NCIC file system and assisting with cross-checking VCIN entries for accuracy.
  • Entering data into the Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN).
  • Ensuring staff certifications are maintained and re-certifications are scheduled accordingly.
  • Training department personnel and outside agencies in VCIN certifications.
  • Identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving VCIN issues.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
